On page 54, E. tells socrates that "whatever we put foward, somehow always keeps going around for us and isn't willing to stay where we place it. I found his use of the words 'we' and 'us' interesting for some reason. It says to me that E. still believes that the the confusion he is feeling at going around in circles is also having the same affect on socrates....that socrates also feels confused...I dunno, it just struck me as an odd phrase. So back to what we were discussing wednesday, I thnk it is human nature to try to answer questions like the meaning of life and what is pious even though we realize that there is no set answer, or at least no answer that will work for every example real life presents. Humans cant grasp facts such as stars being millions of years away, we just can't comprehend it, so our minds try to fit some version of a definition in to please ourselves. If E. had come up with a good religiously bsed definition that socrates couldn't refute, I think socrates would have had to accept what E. believed, but not necessarily adopt that thinking for himself because although what E. believes sounds possibly, socrates is still not a religious man and will not be able to accept E's definition as his own.

i think socrates is religious, he just practices his faith in his beliefs differently from the others in his society
